Tips for a Higher Score
You don't need to know every topic. A few habits can help you make a more informed guess.
Think about searches, not favorites
A topic you love isn't necessarily searched for more often. Think about what people might actively look up online.
Use the last result as your clue
The revealed score carries into the next comparison. It gives you a reference point for the following guess.
Expect the occasional close call
Two familiar subjects can have similar scores. The only way to know for sure is to make your pick and reveal the answer.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
What Do the Search Popularity Scores Mean?
Each topic has a popularity score from 1 to 100, based on estimates of how often people search for it on Google in the United States. A higher score means more estimated search interest. It isn't a percentage or an exact count of monthly searches.
We've put all topics on the same 1โ100 scale so they're easier to compare. The scale narrows very large differences in search volume: a score of 80 doesn't necessarily mean twice as many searches as a score of 40. You won't be asked to guess between two equal scores.
Where the numbers come from: We use DataForSEO's estimates of average monthly Google searches in the United States, with search history available through 2026-09. The scores are not live or worldwide figures, and they may change when the estimates are updated.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Higher or Lower?
Higher or Lower is a free guessing game where you decide which of two items has a bigger value. In this version, you guess which subject attracts more online searches in the United States.
How do I win a round?
Choose Higher if you think the hidden topic has a larger popularity score, or Lower if you think it has a smaller one. Each correct guess adds to your streak. One wrong guess ends the game, and you can try again.
Are these Google Trends scores or live monthly searches?
No. The game uses a 1โ100 popularity score based on estimated monthly Google searches in the United States. These are not live search counts or Google Trends scores.
What if both topics have the same popularity score?
You'll never have to guess a tie. If two subjects have the same score, you'll get a different pair to compare.
Can I play on my phone or with a keyboard?
Yes. On mobile, just tap Higher or Lower. On a keyboard, press H or the up arrow for Higher and L or the down arrow for Lower. Press Enter after a correct answer to continue.
Do I need an account, and is my high score saved?
No account is required. Your best streak is saved in this browser, so you can try to beat it next time. It may reset if you clear your browser data or switch devices.
